Requirements for Obtaining a License to Use the “Made in Oman” Logo

The “Made in Oman” logo is an official national mark that reflects the quality of national products and enhances consumer confidence. Its use is governed by the requirements and regulations approved by the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion.

First: Eligible Entities

Any establishment may apply for a license to use the “Made in Oman” logo provided that it:

  • Holds a valid industrial or artisanal license.
  • Carries out production activities within the Sultanate of Oman.
  • Intends to place the logo on its national products.

Second: Basic Requirements for Obtaining the License

To obtain a license to use the “Made in Oman” logo, the following conditions must be met:

  1. Clearly specify the name of the product to which the logo will be granted.
  2. Achieve a local content ratio of not less than 20% of the total product value.
  3. Ensure that the applicant’s industrial or artisanal license is valid.
  4. Comply with all applicable regulations and requirements issued by the relevant authorities.
  5. Submit any additional data or documents requested by the Ministry, if required.
  6. Provide a formal declaration confirming the accuracy and correctness of the information submitted.

Third: Calculation of the Local Content Ratio

The local content ratio is calculated according to the following formula:

The resulting percentage must not be less than 20% as a minimum threshold.

Fourth: Application Procedures

  • The license application shall be submitted using the official form approved by the Ministry.
  • The competent authority shall review the application within 15 working days from the date all required conditions and documents are fulfilled.
  • The Ministry may seek the assistance of other specialized entities to examine the application, if necessary.

Fifth: License Validity

  • The license is issued for a period of three (3) years.
  • The license is renewable in accordance with the approved procedures.

Sixth: Obligations After Obtaining the License

  • The “Made in Oman” logo may not be used until the official license is issued.
  • The logo must be used in accordance with the approved technical guidelines.
  • The establishment must ensure continuous compliance with all requirements throughout the license validity period.

Seventh: Penalties for Violations

In the event of a violation of the provisions of the regulation, the Ministry may impose one or more of the following measures:

  • Issuance of a warning.
  • Imposition of an administrative fine not exceeding OMR 500.
  • Suspension of the license for a period not exceeding one year.
  • Revocation of the license.

Eighth: Grievances

  • Any concerned party may submit a grievance against a decision within 60 days from the date of notification.
  • The grievance shall be decided upon within 30 days; failure to respond within this period shall be deemed a rejection of the grievance.
