Requirements for Obtaining a License to Use the “Made in Oman” Logo

The “Made in Oman” logo is an official national mark that reflects the quality of national products and enhances trust in them. Its use is subject to requirements and regulations approved by the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion.

First: Eligible Categories


Any establishment is entitled to apply for a license to use the “Made in Oman” logo, provided that it meets the following criteria:

  • Holds a valid industrial or craft license.
  • Conducts production activities within the Sultanate of Oman.
  • Intends to use the logo on its national products.

Second: Key Requirements for Obtaining the License

To obtain a license to use the “Made in Oman” logo, the following requirements must be met:

  1. Clearly specify the name of the product for which the logo is to be granted.
  2. Achieving a local content percentage of not less than (20%) of the total product value.
  3. The applicant’s industrial or craft license must be valid.
  4. Compliance with the applicable requirements and regulations set by the competent authorities.
  5. Providing any additional data or documents requested by the Ministry when required.
  6. Undertaking the accuracy and correctness of the information provided in the application.

Third: Calculation of the Local Content Percentage

The local content percentage is calculated according to the following formula:

Local Content Percentage =
(Ex-factory product price − Value of non-originating materials) ÷ Ex-factory product price × 100

The resulting percentage must not be less than 20% as a minimum requirement.

Fourth: Application Procedures

  • The license application shall be submitted through the Ministry’s approved form.
  • The competent authority shall review the application within a period of (15) working days from the date all requirements and documents are duly fulfilled.
  • The Ministry may seek the assistance of other competent entities to review the application when necessary.

Fifth: License Duration

  • The approval is issued for a period of three (3) years.
  • The license is renewable in accordance with the approved procedures.

Sixth: Obligations After Obtaining the License

  • The “Made in Oman” logo may not be used until the official license has been issued.
  • The logo must be used in accordance with the approved technical guidelines.
  • The establishment is required to maintain continuous compliance with the requirements throughout the license period.

Seventh: Penalties in Case of Violation

In the event of a violation of the provisions of the regulation, the Ministry may take one of the following actions:

  • Issuing a warning.
  • Imposing an administrative fine not exceeding (500) Omani Rials.
  • Suspension of the license for a period not exceeding one year.
  • Revocation of the license.

Eighth: Grievance

  • The concerned party has the right to file a grievance against any decision within (60) days from the date of notification.
  • The grievance shall be decided within (30) days, and failure to respond within this period shall be deemed a rejection of the grievance.
